About Us
We are a small house church in Maple Valley, WA that believes in the forgiveness of sins on account of Jesus Christ and his cross.
We are gathered every Sunday around the preaching of the Word of Jesus Christ and the sacraments of the Lord’s Supper and holy baptism. Ours is a congregation of sinners whom the Holy Spirit has gathered to hear and receive the rest and relief from the burdens that weigh on our hearts and minds, “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30). This rest and comfort comes to us in hearing the proclamation of the forgiveness of sins, the defeat of death, and new life bestowed to those in need by the crucified and risen Jesus Christ.
Our mission is to proclaim the forgiveness of sins on account of Christ and him crucified to all, “…and that repentance for the forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem (Luke 24:47)," for where there is the forgiveness of sins there is new life in Christ and eternal salvation. Therefore, we worship using singable, proclamatory hymns, a regular form of liturgy (order of worship) built directly from the scriptural verses which proclaim the promises of God. We baptize all people of all ages (Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 2:38-39) and partake of the sacrament of Holy Communion (Matthew 26:26-28), weekly. From the beginning of the liturgy to the end, through the preaching of the word and sacraments, to the confession of the creeds, prayer, and song, may you be comforted by receiving God's forgiveness for you throughout the entire service.
Christ welcomes you to come and hear the preaching of his Word and receive the sacraments among us at Tahoma Lutheran Church. May you find a home at TLC filled with other forgiven sinners whose hope comes from Jesus Christ alone. “I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.” (Mark 2:17)
As a member of the association of Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ, Tahoma Lutheran Church is a congregation free in Christ (Galatians 5:1), accountable to one another (Hebrews 10:25), and rooted in Holy Scriptures and the Lutheran Confessions. TLC is also a member of the Augustana District and the NW District within LCMC.
